The Astell & Kern A&norma SR35 is a portable digital audio player built for listeners who want genuine high-resolution sound in a pocketable aluminum body. Four Cirrus Logic CS43198 chips form its Quad-DAC configuration, paired with Astell&Kern's patented TERATON ALPHA technology and New Generation AMP circuitry from the flagship A&ultima line — a combination the manufacturer credits with improved dynamics, resolution and separation, and a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 130dB (balanced).
Practical playback features are plentiful: Native DSD256 and 32bit/384kHz PCM support, selectable DAC filters, two-way Bluetooth with LDAC and aptX HD, dual-band Wi-Fi for streaming, Roon Ready certification, and MQA full decoding up to 8X. AK File Drop enables wireless file transfers, and BT Sink lets an external device stream to the player.
Two-step gain control and up to 6Vrms from the balanced output give the SR35 headroom for demanding headphones while still matching sensitive IEMs. With up to 20 hours of playback, a 3.6-inch HD touch display and a 184g build, it travels easily through a full day of listening.
